Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court issued suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's identity.
Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
